Baptist Health South Florida recently announced that it’s partnering with Hilton Worldwide to build a new hotel on the hospital’s Miami campus.

The hospital plans to build the Hilton Miami/Dadeland on a chunk of mostly vacant land it owns at 9100 North Kendall Drive, which sits just west of the entrance to Baptist’s new $430 millionMiami Cancer Institute.

Under the agreement, the 150,000-square-foot hotel will be franchised to Hilton and operate with 184 keys, split into 150 guest rooms and 34 extended-stay suites.

In addition to its rooms, the hotel will have a 6,200-square-foot ballroom, 2,000 square feet of flex meeting space, a wellness center with fitness room, heated outdoor pool and a 24-hour business center.

Architecture firm CallisonRTKL is designing the hotel, which will have a similar Mediterranean style to the hospital campus. That means wall art inspired by Baptist’s ubiquitous logo, the pineapple, and Cuban tile.

Interstate Hotels and Resorts will manage the property. Baptist and Hilton expect to finish their project by late 2018. — Sean Stewart-Muniz
